The travel notification landscape has changed: many banks with modern fraud systems no longer want travel notices at all, their algorithms handle location shifts automatically, while others still block foreign transactions without warning.
Beyond the notice itself, the pre-departure card checklist that prevents real problems: confirm each card's expiry date covers the trip, check foreign transaction fees so you know which card to favor abroad, verify your daily ATM withdrawal limit and adjust if needed, and make sure you know the PIN as a number, since terminals abroad will not show your home keypad pattern and some countries require chip-and-PIN where signature never appears.
Carry at least two cards on different networks stored in different bags, photograph the card fronts and the banks' international lost-card numbers, and if a card does get blocked mid-trip, the in-app freeze and unfreeze toggle plus support chat usually fixes it faster than any phone call.
